Cognitive battery: pilot version

Start by age: 6–8 years from the first item, 9–12 and 13+ from later items; after an error on one of the first two items the test goes back until the participant solves two in a row.

How do you solve new problems? A study of reasoning and spatial ability

We are developing short tests of reasoning and spatial ability: completing picture patterns (Matrices), balancing scales (Weights), working with shape rules (Shape Keys), imagining folded paper (Paper Folding) and rotating objects in your mind (Mental Rotation). The tests use only pictures and shapes, so they work across languages.

Compare yourself with others. Once enough people have taken a test, you will see after finishing it how your result compares with others who took it.

You don’t have to do everything. Each test takes 3–15 minutes. You can take only some of the tests, or stop halfway and come back later. Every attempt helps.

Developed by Jaroslav Točík as part of doctoral research at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic).

The test is intended for people aged 15 and over. Younger participants may take it only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

How we handle your data (GDPR)

The test is anonymous: we do not store your name, e-mail or IP address. We store your answers, response times and the information from the form below. Your browser keeps a random identifier so that it recognises you when you return. The data are used for doctoral research and are processed on the website operator’s server. You can stop at any time; you can ask the website operator to delete your data by quoting the identifier shown on the results page.
